Tupelo honey is a medium colored honey with a flowery aroma and a complex floral, herbal,and fruity flavor aftertaste. The trees in Eastern North Carolina grow mostly along the Roanoke River and a tributary called Sweet Water Creek. These trees are called Tupelo Gum, or Water Tupelo. These beautiful tress grow in a large area of Martin and Bertie County, and can be seen along Sweet Water Creek.
